    recording live session

    by Catli3 » Mon Mar 25, 2013 12:26 pm

    hi,
i need to to record a modul8 session of 60 minutes and then burn it onto a dvd.
this needs to be done live during the public presentation, so i can't have it slowing down my computer (as it did in my trials at home).

    what settings do you recommend?
do you record to render logical board or rather capture to disc? ( i don't know the difference)

    got a MBP 2011.

    oh these techie things... :?

    cheers for any advice

The best would be to use external recording device. There are good but somewhat expensive options to record HDMI. Much cheaper would be to film the screen/space you project on.

    thanks for your answer vanakaru!
filming directly from screen is what I'm currently doing, but the images do loose too much quality concerning this specific project.
external recording device is financially not an option :(

    Hello,

you could use Syphon output and Syphon Recorder (http://syphon.v002.info/recorder/).

There is a hidden preference to export all Modul8's panel to Syphon:
    - open Terminal
    - type : defaults write com.GarageCUBE.modul8_25 syphon_always_on 1

With this, you could record you fullscreen output.

    To de-activate:
    - defaults delete com.GarageCUBE.modul8_25 syphon_always_on

There is a known problem if you enable AdvancedOutput, but this is corrected in 2.7.0

    Regards

    thank you david
    yeah that works fine...
however the advanced output problem doesn't make it an option neither :(

    Hey ,

There is another way to record the session with advanced output.
You record the session with the output with the modul8
    Recording function.

When the session is done and your at home
you deactivate the advanced output and you start
    The recording .

While it is running you syphon record the show .

This way you don't need a recorder and you don't spend resources
    on the recording too.

    I hope this helps.

    All the best peter
