    best mac pro for multiprojection?

    by area71 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 12:50 am

    Hi,
what is the best mac pro for multi projection? Has anyone made some experience with the the last and the newest generation?
I´ve heard that the new ones have a bad performance because of the graphic card? It would be better to buy an old one (from 2007).

So, what mac pro do you use for multiprojection and can you compare the 4-core with the 8-core?

    cheers,

    Hi,
As far as i kwnow (I use both mac pros 4-core and 8-core), the number of cores does not really matter in performing. I did not notice any difference. Real performance is made of three things, first the graphics card(s), second and third, the amount of RAM and the hard disk's speed.

A very good graphic card is the most important in a multiprojection with a mac pro, and I add : good media settings (codecs, sizes, bitrates).

    hi,

    for info, I use a 8core macpro to run modul8 .. (2 Go RAM + 4* PCIe radeon 2600XT) - I use photo-jpeg videos (640*480)

I had so far no problem of compatibility, neither any lag or freeze, and in the process manager, the CPU load never exceeds 25%. Only one dual core seems to be used by modul8, and it works perfect.

    bye,
    poz
