    3D obj w/ texture mapping?

    by pixel8 » Tue Feb 12, 2008 11:42 am

    Hi All,

It's been a while since I looked for this function...

Is there any Module that will allow the loading of obj models and applying a texture to them?

    Modul8 is still the best!!

    Cheers,

    Hi picel8
I have not testet in Leoopard, use OBJ Loader for Quartz Composer 3.0.
    Info: http://www.vidvox.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2333
You can open a QC-Patch in Quicktime and save as .mov
(Modul8 nead this to open it)
Use midiinput inside the QC-Patch to change y/x/z and more.

    Hello Modul8 Freaks
I have check this way and good news, this work

To better work flow you can use the OSC-Modul in Modul8 to make a new
little Modul for direkt pipe for phat/x/y/z.... to the Quartz-Composer-Patch.

    Nice day and good times

So i have everything running properly (i think) but i'm wondering....

Is it possible to run a 3d model as a clip in Modul8 and control its rotation from Modul8?
    Or
Is it possible to run a 3d model as a clip in Modul8 and control its rotation from Quartz Composer (maybe with osc)?

I've tried editing the quartz file 'live' while it's launched in m8 and i don't really get live controller over it's parameters.

    Hope that makes sense.

Well I can control the rotation using rewind and fast forward inside modul8, duh. Still wondering about other controls live however, say wireframe toggling, etc.

I know this post from SARE is very old but if you can control the QC comp with OSC when loaded inside modul8, would you mind charing that module? My experience is that all QC comps are cut of from communication with over OSC and Midi when loaded in Modul8.

Orion, since you're a big fan of Syphon, if I were you I'd look in to loading the 3D model in QC and sending it over Syphon to Modul8. You can hook up MIDI controls to all the 3D patch variables in QC. You can then control your 3D object while you're working in Modul8. Just see to that you're not overlapping any other Midi messages you're already using.

It sounds like a great way to enhance Modul8. Can't wait to have fun with it!
