Sorry I did not reply to this earlier. I completely understand your frustration. While I am part of the team I am also a user and want to see x, y, z. But like everyone else I have to wait.

Due to the delay we are experiencing now I have been permitted to pepper out some of the things to expect in the next release (v2.6) but beyond that I am in the same with everyone else.

Just trust me that we'll get there. Personally I am still pretty amazed what this software can do now and I am still perfecting how I use it.

I think there was a thread somewhere where someone asked how to be able to reverse a rotation when using 'smooth' in the the 'automove' animation FX. I discovered that it is possible to use the 'Center' module in combination with the 'auto rotate' animation fx to this very thing. All you have to to do is press on the reverse direction button when using the 'z' axis rotation.

    Vdmx and M8

Modul8 its a very powerful tool, very practical, i like it a lot, right now im entering into VDMX for the same reason mentioned before, of course M8 its very extensible with the huge modules that are in the depository. But one of the goals of VDMX its their architectural integration with Quartz, maybe garagecube may try or allow Quartz composer integration an manipulation.

I hope that it does NOT. Quartz Composer is usable as it is for interactive goals or there is Isadora if you want to go advanced. Also everything based on QC is rather CPU hungry, while M8 is not.
So I hope that M8 will stay such powerful and reliable performance tool and will not bloat to add more and more effects just for the sake of competition.

I run two VJ apps at the same time. Being able to use quartz files is amazing.

Live screen capture, sound reactive shapes, sound reactive audio bars, custom fx, all make for amazing experiences. Maybe you should look more into quartz files and how they work before stating such wrong facts. The apps use the same cpu, for most quartz its the same cpu power as video.

I dont feel the need to name the other app here as it is rude, and they do different things.

That is my point exactly. I do not want to have all video apps do the same thing. Personally I find M8 have plenty of effects with FF and modules and decent interactive possibilities.
And I do use that other rude app to do more advanced interactive setups.
I think the reason why I am against the whole set of new addition is that M8 as it is now needs few bugs to worked out and updates are so slow to come. If we start with new features then all this already thin power will go towards that and hurt the reputation of M8 reliability.
And the attention span with new toys is so short. Think about it how many times you use the same cool effect before it feels rather old?(yea, yea, custom effects!)
If you are into effects then do prep with After Effects. There you have endless possibilities accompanied with live M8.

Intereting points of view. I am definitely happy with my AE + M8 world. Some basic things in m8 can make fun things happen.

That said there are some ideas about vjing that are not really available anywhere. And if they are then they are extremely complex to get at.

When m8 first came out I remember Vatsky telling me about a post about m8 on a forum stating that m8 was way ahead of its time. That was in 2004.

For the near release not that much will change. I hope that we change that further down the road so we make something that is 'so 2012'... or something like that.

    Just some thoughts.

If I can put my two pennies worth in I would like to say, like all M8 users I look forward to the new update. Whatever the M8 dev team have in store for us I'm sure will be exciting. For me the most important thing (I think) is program stability especially with the new Mac OS soon to be released. I would rather a rock solid M8 that dose not crash. I think that is pretty much what we have now. This is what makes it brilliant for live work. The more I use this software the greater the creative possibilities.
two things I would like to see is better painter mod with more preset shapes and a better text mod with a "stroke" function.
