    HDV and high res clips?

    by refresh » Fri Jul 21, 2006 6:35 am

So I recently got a sony HC3 HDV camcorder and i love working with the 1080i hdv footage. The resolution is simply stunning compared to SD.
I have been doing some tests in M8 2.5 with clips that are scaled down to 1024x576 and it is still pretty taxing on my g5 imac. guess i need dual core.. looks nice tho..

Anyway in the course of doing this tinkering i have come up with some my questions i'm hoping someone could help answer:

How are higher resolution clips handled in 2.5?
Does a clip just get scaled to whatever the output monitor res is or how does that work?
If I am using an XGA projector and I scale my HDV clips from 1920x1080 to 1024x576 when i prepare them and then play then in Modul8 am i gonna get maximum pixel count or will it be actually processing and displaying them at a lower res?
Does any one have any clues about how this works?
Some other vj apps i've used have you set the working resolution, Modul8 does not appear to do that, so i'm just wondering how it's getting done behind the scenes.. Is there any point in going hi res, any information being wasted??

Thanks very much for your time.
