    Maximum Preload Memory Size question

    by spongemonkey » Thu Mar 15, 2007 1:10 am

I hope this isn't too stupid of a question but I kind of don't get the preference setting of "When opening a new project, maximum preload memory size:". I mean I feel like I get that, but the description then kind of confuses me... the "as long as the total memory size is smaller than the specified value" part in particular.

Can some explain this to me a bit better, and if I have 2 GB of Ram on my MacBook pro, then what would be a good size to put in here?

When you open a new project, Modul8 starts to preload movies (- only the one that needs to be preloaded of course). This option let you specifiy how many MBytes should be loaded before Modul8 stops preloading the media. If you put a huge number, Modul8 will preload all movies of the project when you open it (as long as they fit in ram and they are not disk streamed movie) . It may takes some time. If you put a very small number, Modul8 will only preload them only the first time you use it.

    Great!
    Thanks much.
I was just confused by the wording in the prefs, but that makes perfect sense.
