Sorry, can you draw a diagram of that? How would the eSata port help you? Which intensity model has an eSata port?
There is at the moment only one capture card that has daisy chaining and that is the AJA io XT. I would return the BM Intensity and cough up the extra $ for the the AJA device.

The AJA IO XT is a beautiful device. Has it been tested with Modul8? Also the only reservation I have with the Aja is that it doesn't have a component input, only HDMI and SDI.

The only other thought I had was to get an imac since it has two thunderbolt ports and the display is already built in.

I haven't tried this but it should work in theory.

It's a little bit depending on what iPad you have. Disregarding what version you have, you can always use the analog Composite output from the mini jack. The MX02 LE has composite input but the AJA io XT hasn't (but probably other bigger models has). Or if you have an ipad 2 or later you can use the HDMI adapter. You might run into trouble with the HDCP protection if you're going the HDMI way depending on what you are trying to do. I know the AJA io XT doesn't support HDCP. If I'm not wrong this only applies if you are trying to run copy protected material over HDMI.

Keep in mind not all apps can display via the Composite output from the iPad.

So it looks like the original posting HAS been updated with the new options?

( It's a shame they don't seem to make ANY? Firewire video cameras now. )
My experience - I used to use a FW DV cam for video in - it worked much better than what I have now -

A StarTech USB capture dongle and Video Glide - works intermittently, often with strange
scan / interlacing? lines, ( which I use as a "high tech glitch" element, make it look intentional! )
NOT recommended. I'll probably buy a newer device when I can. - Suggestions?

( Also looking for a quality "scan converter" because I still use a V4 on some gigs. )

I was VERY disappointed to discover that my iPad 1 does NOT offer video out on most applications,
in spite of the fact that it has been shown the device IS capable of full video mirroring, if J.Broken!
Which is something I won't do. They should correct this with a legitimate firmware update.

I will probably get an iPad 3 soon anyway? So it's less important now.

I have Matrox MXO2 mini that works great for s-video capture. VERY little latency pretty decent for lip-sync. With quality security camera you get excellent image.
This could be used for capturing VGA/DVI(another computer) and DSLR with clean HDMI live out.
Blackmagic Intensity is somewhat cheaper and reported to work real good too.

Thanks - Can you post the drivers somewhere? It looks like a DC60+ unit in a different case - your drivers may work on other boxes without needing to buy Videoglide.

    Hey guys,

Yesterday i finally managed to test a Capture Card i got, its Blackmagic UltraStudio Express (SDI and HDMI capture and playback for Thunderbolt™ technology.). I was running on 1080i 50Frames with an SDI connection. It performed perfectly, with an unrecognizable latency (not to say No Latency).

You can find the product details on their website:

http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/ultrastudio/ (it's the Silver unit, and not the black small recorders)

I used this Capture Card on a MacBook Pro Retina Display (top of its line model).

I'm still interested to test and see if i can use the "Out" ports to project from the Blackmagic box which is connected to my Thunderbolt port, without using another Thunderbolt Port for the Picture/video out from my Laptop. Will share my finding as well.

The DFG1394 is no longer produced and it needs a driver that is no longer sold.
I wrote that comment 4 years ago, and I've used this converter since 2006.

Canopus (GRASSVALLEY) Twinpact 100 Works like a charm through firewire. It should be added to the list.
Also got this one working once: ADVC-HD50

Do the Ethernet fram grabbers from Epiphan work?

    Also TESTED

Used the following SIMULTANEOUSLY, which means 2 sources.
Accomplished on a MacbookPro Retina with 2 thunderbolt ports

    1x Intensity Shuttle for Thunderbolt
    1x UltraStudio Mini Recorder

Both were detected by the Blackmagic preference pane AFTER I installed what appeared to be the same software for both. Seems that, even though Blackmagic names their software packages the same thing, there are still different versions to install for each Blackmagic item you try to hook up. To find the drivers for said devices, simply go to http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/ then select your OS and device and download the software.

Now going to test UltraStudio 3D with UltraStudio Mini Recorder to see if I can get 3 sources.
