Best quality for DV live input ?

by Paul Sellis » Sun Aug 30, 2009 4:31 pm

    Hi,

I am tryng Modul8 with a live DV input. Until now I haven't a completely satisfying result as you can see in this small extract http://cjoint.com/data/iEqbDvdMYS.htm : we can notice pixelated details.

    In Preferences :
    - I have asked for High quality http://cjoint.com/data/iEqsdqou7G.htm
    - I don't compress the source http://cjoint.com/data/iEqtoSPlXo.htm
    - I checked High for Antialiasing http://cjoint.com/data/iEqxbF6AAI.htm

What could I do to improve quality ?
    Something wrong ?

    Thanks for your help !

The quality of the camera is dependent on this.

What kind of camera are you using?

If you want really good quality then I can suggest using a Mac Pro tower with a black magic capture card. It does not have the limitations of the DV compression.

Well you are right but unfortuntely I don't have the budget now ! thing

I choose back "DV-PAL" in compression mode. And for the first time I achieved to get an non-interlaced (progressive) image. Until now I was checking this box but still got an interlaced image.

So now the global quality is much better...
... but I still get a king of aliasing.

Is there a problem with my 2.4GHz MacBook Pro Graphic card (NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT) and Antialiasing ?
