Start Stop Button / Sync all playing Clips

by franz schuier » Wed Nov 04, 2009 4:57 pm

Im interested in Buying but cant find Infos for this two crucial (for me) Questions:

is there a general start stop button for the whole engine?

is it possible to sync all playing clips, e.g. hit one button and all clips start simultainously?

Modules abound for this. Check the Public Online Library.

also you can set the global speed slider to 0, or you can hold down the "still" button to temporarily stop all action

    @franz

THAT btw is really easy to do with a module so you don't have to use the slider.

    - Open up the module editor
    - Click on 'add' on the bottom right of the window
    - Name the module 'master off' or something else that fits this function
    - Reduce the size of the 'window' you have created by entering numbers on the top left of the module editor
    - From the 'controls' tab on the bottom drag a 'button' directly into this window
    - With the button selected click on the 'Keyword Connect' tab at the top of the window
    - Click on the 'pick ui' button and then click on the 'master alpha' slider
    - In the text filed labeled 'expression' type in 0
    - From the finder menu bar select 'modules > save all changes'
    - From the finder menu bar select 'modules > show > master off'

The module will appear outside of the module editor.

    Test the module:
    - Make sure the master alpha is all the way up (full visibility)
    - Click on the button in the module.

The Master Alpha slider will be set to zero.

Repeat the same procedure for an 'on' button but set the expression value to 1.

If you can manage to do all this then you can do a lot of different things without having to write any Python code.

Hmmh.. problem is.. theres no module editing or downloading in demo mode. So I have to buy without testing.

And does someone have an ideo for the sync issue? - I have a lot of clips I want to layer and its crucial for me that I can start them at the same time.

    Thnx for the responses though

Yes there is. You can use the BPM (Master) and BPM router (layer) modules. Use the layer router by picking one of the scratch knobs. Do this for all of the layers you want to keep in sync. Leave the layer empty.

Then using key binding in 'Position' mode bind one key to trigger the clip(s) you want to have Modul8 play back. The triggering will start all of the layers playing from the beginning in each layer.

Sorry that I missed the part about your using the demo :(
