Mac Pro Early 2009 / Work with Video Cam FW400

    by videsad » Mon Dec 28, 2009 12:44 am

    Hello

I have buy a new mac Pro...
Nice to Work with this machine. But i have one Problem. On my new mac are only FW 800 Ports... My DV cam needs FW400.

-Should i buy a FW400 Card for use my old DV Cam?

-i like to use a Webcam too, but i dont find any compatible Cams... :? :?

And an other problem... I have a Audio Interface with FW400 connectors. With my macbookPro i have the Problem that i can not use the Audiointerface for the Sound Capturing and the DV Cam for the Live Video Input. There are to many informations for the OS?! Does it work with a MacPro?

    Any Ideas...?

DMX Moduls are very interesting... I have get an USBDMX Pro and im very happy about this tool... I can use the DMXUSBPro for the Controll of the LED Pars and our new Laser... great work.

    Hello videsad,

for machine with only FW800 port, it exist FW800 to FW400 adapter, google gives me these one :
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/TW748LL/A
    http://www.sonnettech.com/product/fw_adapter.html

Concerning webcams, I wrote an answer in this thread :
    http://www.garagecube.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13905#13905

Concerning Firewire DV and Firewire Audio not working together, it could be a bus bandwidth limitation; in this case doing FW400 on a FW800 connector will not solve the problem. Or, it could be a "driver" problem; I am not sure that DV capture and other stream could cohabit on the same firewire bus.
Could you use FW DV and FW Audio simultaneously in other software ?

    Regards.

    David
