Would love to get some recommendations for a small, portable video input device to use with my setup.

I'm currently using a retina Macbook Pro, and my plan is to use the video input to project live footage of the band I'm working with. The last time I purchased a video camera was in the late ninetees, early 2000s (the firewire/miniDV days). I'm totally behind on the latest gear
