is a per layer mask module possible in 2.5?

I've just started looking at the scripting possibilities to see if I could make a per layer mask option.

I'm not sure its possible, there is no proper blend modes (eg multiply) that I could use to mask one layer only.

do we have to wait for 3.0 to be able to make a module for this feature?

this is really important to me, if I can't do layer masks I can't use modul8 in most of the gigs I do (shaped screen clusters)

your question is important. but i'm not sure individual masks are implemented yet.
have you tried to create a routine with quartz composer?

I know the sort of thing you're looking for, specifically hexagons!

I've not found a way of doing these but you can do squares with the "crop(m8)" filter. This doesn't solve your problem but maybe a "polygon crop" filter could be written within the filter module with "centre", "sides", "size" & "angle" parameters.

The scripting is way beyond me, I'm afraid, but maybe some kind soul could help out?

I've been experimenting with a work around using the key feature but nothing satisfactory... I could really use this also

Ågreed, this is a major requirement. We need more than hex's though, as we'll all soon get bored of them!

I'm playing with Quartz as a workaround for the moment, also vvvv. Hopefully I'll have something soon.
