    Camera for Spacial Scanner

    by Lichtler77 » Mon Apr 20, 2020 9:53 am

    Good morning from beautiful Cologne,
I'm pretty new to Madmapper and have a few questions.

Which Canon camera can you recommend for the Spacial Scanner or is there an alternative to Canon?
Have already tried the search function but found older models and posts. Or the Canon link does not work, also on the Madmapper page under FAQ.

Does Spacial Scanner work with three projectors? What do I have to consider?

Thank you ever and best regards
    Sven

so far it will work well only with canon cameras.
any entry level supported by the sdk should do the job.

I couldn't find a webpage, I took the list from the latest SDK which is the one MadMapper implements. We always update when there's

I am using a MOKOSE 4K USB web camera with 6-12mm f1.6 varifocal manual lens. The thing is about $160 out the door. Can be found on Amazon. Use OBS Studio software (free) to make any camera system changes. Seriously cheaper and smaller than most, if not all of the recommended cameras, and does a great job with MadMapper 4.

We have native support of Canon only, with their EOS SDK. This allows us to take picture and have high quality input.
Except that MadMapper supports live input devices that handles DirectShow capture on Windows or AVFoundation on macOS. So if your Nikon supports behaving like a standard webcam with higher quality it could work well with Spatial Scanner. No idea if streaming works with Nikon...

Use OBS Studio software (free) to make any camera system changes.
Thanks for the recommendation! Are you saying that OBS is capable of sending it’s camera feed to MadMapper (prob via AVFoundation) and therefore would not require a Canon?

    Many thanks.
