Hello, Can anyone please help me figure out how to use Mad Mapper and WatchOut together for projection mapping?

I am finding it very hard to find information.

Thank you!

Hi ,

i just did that on 2 Shows.

There are basically 2 Ways to do this.

1. If you use watchout as timeline and to do the geometry and the blending, you feed modul8
through the video I/O of watchout.

but there are some restrictions. You cannot trigger this signal. i mean you can but it behaves like a
camera you hock to the system.

2. You use Modul8 as the final system.

Then you need to feed watchout through the video I/O of MD8.

Now you´ve got the control of the timeline through watchout and this timeline is used as
a layer in MD8.

But you need to do the softedging and geometry in MD8 or with the projectors.

Ok . there is a 3 Method:

We also used a video switcher to switch in-between the sources. (or mixer)

As far on how exactly you connect both systems you should book an operator that has done this before.

There is a Watchout Forum:

http://dataton.com/forum/forum/2-watchout-forum/

And i think it should be no Problem to get an experienced operator.

The operator is not only a technician, he also guides you through the show.

I hope this helps you

all the more as, apart from the timeline, the combo modul8+madmapper can act as a cheaper alternative replacement for a watchout

HI deepvisual and franz,

if you need to work with more than 3 projectors.

We had 5 Projectors for a cylinder .

Or is there a way to handle this with mad mapper ?
