MadMapper and LED kit

Good Afternoon,
I've recently received a set of 128 rgb leds with all the cables. I dont seem to be able to get them to work as they should. i have tried plugging into the DMX output from an ETC element and was unable to control them.
i have also tried plugging them into an artnet node with madmapper and still no luck.
Am i missing something?
