    any DisplayLink limitation on M1?

    by lego_man » Thu Apr 27, 2023 6:43 am

II recently bought a DisplayLink USB to Dual HDMI 2.0 4K device https://www.macway.com/adaptateur-displ ... i/p3041776 to improve the limited number of outputs on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro, and it seems to work pretty well.

I just wanted to know if there are any limitations to using DisplayLink devices with MadMapper?

No. But there is a hardware limitation on the number of outputs you can use that you should find in MacBook specifications.

My macbook pro M1 has an hardware limitation of 2 monitors,
with this display link adaptor I'm able to connect 4 output (I've only tested with 1080p resolution)

    Hi Yannick!
Any news about this setup? What are your experiences?
I am looking for a similar setup with a macmini M1.
Will madmapper work with a Displaylink adapter? Does it recognize all 3 HD-outputs (or even 4)?

    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers!

For info I used my MacBook Pro M1 Max with three projectors 1920x1200 60Hz using simple USB C - HDMI adapeters + my laptop screen without issues.

There are some limitations. Examples: You might experience dropped frames or lag, wordle unlimited especially with demanding visuals or high resolutions. The color space might be restricted compared to native display outputs.
