Audio response not working for loaded files

Please help! I'm sure this is something so simple but I can't figure it out!
If I'm using external audio (external to modul8) the audio response works fine, but If I use a loaded file, from within modul8, the audio response doesn't work. I've tried multiple different files but I've had no luck figuring it out.
I've also noticed that when using external audio, sometimes it only responds when selecting 'sound source', but not when selecting, 'high', 'mid' or 'low freq'.
I'm using Sound Syphon too. I'm wondering if it's something to do with that.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
