    Gradient Mapping

    by yirehmail » Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:58 pm

I would love to see if madmapper can do gradient mapping like photoshop (https://www.behance.net/gallery/4567978 ... nt-Mapping).

What I would love to achieve is something like this video

but with a live camera input for concert use.

you can do this very easly with a shader fx.
it is just color remapping , or using a LUT.
we'll try to add it in the next update

I've been using MadMapper a lot lately to preview video files because it's better at playing back than QuickTime. There's also better controls obviously. I had a thought today: wouldn't it be great if I could apply a LUT or use something like Lumetri live? With my Blackmagic Mini Recorder, I could get a rough idea of a Rec 709 look using MadMapper - or I can take the "raw" 60FPS footage and play it back at 24 FPS (approx 40% of speed) and apply a LUT there too. Is it possible?

you should be able to do this in madmapper 4 using the heatmap fx:
it take 2 colors (gradient) and remaps them to your surface colors.

There's a LUT FX in MadMapper 5, but there doesn't seem to be a selector. How do I change the LUT that's packaged with it??

go to the FX LUT forlder in your documents, then load the LUT file in photoshop or affinity, apply your color correction, save-overwrite the file.
