MIDI Map in Modul8 issues with note press resetting layer

    by centralnexus » Fri Oct 15, 2010 4:41 am

    Hi Everyone,

just a quickone, I'm attempting to trigger MIDI into Modul8, but when the MIDI note is sent to modul8, it resets the layer and removes the moving visual, i have found a layer activate module, but it seems that the mapping is fixed in modul8. I have also attempted to clear the MIDI paths in modul8, but it seems not to clear.

I is not clear what you problem is. Could you use more words and full sentences to describe what you try to do and what is the result. Like step by step for instance.

    Sorry a little rushed.

Ok so step one, trigger MIDI key press in a loop in Ableton which then routes to the IAC bus 1, channel 11, and this is then mapped to the module called "layer activate" in Modul8, which turns that layer on and off without clearing the layer mov file that is playing. All of this is happening on the one Mac just to let you know.

Any time that I attempt to trigger into bus 1, channels 1 - 10, this clears the mov. file from that layer. ie 10 clears layer 10, and so forth.

Is there a way around this?

can't find modul *layer activate*, There is a one Layer Select with activate button. Using this with normal mapping to keyboard have no anomalities.
I do not use Ableton, so I can not help with that, sorry.

solved the problem here, it seems that MIDI channels 1 - 10 relate directly to those layers.

but if you use lets say channel 16, from here you can use the full keyboard to trigger the layers.

very happy and simple to solve
