I have a quicktime clip of a shark swimming in water an I want an easy way to make the background white an the shape of the shark black. I have tried loads of things but i think its going to need me to rotascope every frame. (Which will take forever) can anyone help?

I have, Final Cut Pro/ After Effects/ Photoshop / Illustrator among other programs to use

We all want an easy way for that!
The only way to do it properly will be frame by frame. You can save time by playing with the hue/levels of the clip until you can chromakey or lumakey the background out. Needless to say that the quality will be shit compared to editing frame by frame.

This is Simple

Eureka! makes a free plugin for FCP that works great for this. It is the Abstract plugin in their free pluging bundle. You may have to tweak a little but it has work great for me .

Thanks, I think frame by frame is the best option. I also tried the pluggin (which will come in useful for other clips) but not for this particlur one. cheers guys
