midi cc behavior? toggle?

Does Modul8 not differentiate between midi cc and midi notes? I am trying to set up an Ohm64 and was told that using cc for a button does not send an off value but Modul8 reads it like an off value... is there no way to toggle anything with an Ohm64 in Modul8? I want to be able to toggle layers on and off. Ack! this is going to suck if after buying the Ohm64 I find out that Modul8 treats midi cc and midi notes the same.

Download and use the Print Direct Event module to see what your midi devices are sending and what Modul8 sees. The data is displayed in the Script Output window (open it in in the menu: Modules/Script/Show script output or ALT+CMD+o).

Unfortunately at the moment it does not support CC data. If the hardware can be configured to so it can work.

For example on the Korg nanoKontrol if you use 'scene' 4 then the push buttons change into toggle buttons that allow you to toggle the layers in Modul8 on and off.

I have never had any hands on experience with the Ohm controllers.

Funny thing about 'Off' in MIDI. I was recently reading the Ableton Live manual and I found this little bit of info:

"Please note that note-off (or release) velocity is a somewhat esoteric parameter, and is only supported by certain devices. Ableton’s Sampler instrument, for example, provides note-off velocity as a controller for a variety of parameters."

Since this thread is not about Live + Modul8 interoperability I will leave my discoveries and work arounds for another post.

Regardless of the above we have read plenty of calls for CC recognition in Modul8 and will come up with an elegant solution in the next version and that should come within the next year if not sooner.

. i use an original ohm. i use the ohmConnect software to set the pads to toggle. you should be able to do that on the ohm64 as well

. as for the midi note/cc - yeah they know. :) in the interim, i use ohmConnect to set all the knobs and sliders to MIDI channel 2 and the buttons to MIDI channel 3 - completely ignoring everything that's sent down MIDI channel 1 (the default for the ohm, and probably ohm64)

. good luck!

So what's happened with this?
I've found myself in a situation where my Xone4D outputs cc 16 on a fader and note 16 on a button which means that they interfere with each other. Does it have to be this way?
The only solution I 've found which I haven't tried yet is using midipipe to convert messages but I'd much rather bypass yet another load of control panel/software/settings/configurations

Is it possible to enable toggle with an ohm64? If yes, by using ohmconnect or anything else?
