Hap videos play very slow

Hi,
i am trying to play some Hap rendered files (640x480 from the Hap sample pack) but they are very slow.
I run modul8 on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) and its quite impossible to use Hap rendered files on my show.
is there anyone else experiencing the same problem or has any good tip on how to overcome this problem?
(every time i try to play one of the samples on Qt it converts before i am able to see it. Could there be a problem with my hap installation?)
