    miniMAD Hardware Changes?

    by mysecretstache » Wed Jan 29, 2020 3:23 pm

Hello, I have a 1st generation miniMAD (blue casing), with all the iterations of raspberry pi that have come since, have there been hardware changes to the miniMAD? Is my old one limited in anyway or will it be able to run the current releases of miniMAD software?

you shouldn't be limited, the miniMAD actually evolved on the software part

make sure you're using a recent version of MadMapper and give it a try (y)

Will do. I actually bought it when it was first released, and have never used it because the right project has never come up, but I'm thinking of exploring the DMX recording and playback. Any plans to add sACN to the MiniMAD? How about DMX input for control?

You can already use sACN output in miniMAD Light.

You can remote-control miniMAD Light using OSC.

miniMAD (Video or Light) is a media-player with standard controls like pause, previous, next, etc, but not - yet - a media-server with a dedicated DMX fixture.

Both miniMAD models (blue and black) have the full-feature set, and they get even better with the arrival of MadMapper 4.0, which is available in beta on Yourspace.
