    MINIMAD's network configuration

    by aposada » Tue Nov 09, 2021 1:26 am

Hi, i just recently updated the new 16Gb ISO to minimad and the madmapper to 4.2.1 version.
I want to use MININMAD LIGHT with audio.
But when i want to upload the recordings to the machine there is a network problem.
I need to work with static IPs because the pixel controller has manual IP's and there isn't DHCP servers (PIXLITE 16).

So i need to change IP from DHCP to manual.
I connect the minimad to the same dhcp server that the mac and i see it in the remote minimad tab. But, when i connect with it a network error appear: "madmapper was unable to connect, please check the minimad's network configuration".
We are in the same IP range, what is happening and how can i change the IP to manual? is it possible with the settings in the card editing a specific file?

I attach some imatges with the settings...

    Thanks

    Alex

If you need to set your MiniMad IP manually, then it's a matter of configuring your computer so it is on the same sub-network as the MiniMad.
For example, if you set the MiniMad to 192.168.0.100 / 255.255.255.0, manually configure your Mac network adapter to 192.168.1.50 / 255.255.255.0.
Once that's done, restart MadMapper and you should be able to connect to the MiniMad.

Quick tip: if you don't want to screw your Mac's home/work DHCP configuration, you can create a new "Location" that's dedicated to the MiniMad remote-export in System Preferences --> Network.
Then you'll be able to quickly switch from DHCP to static IP without having to go through all network parameters again.

Hello Pierre, I'm having the same issue as aposada and I can't connect over the network with the 2 Minimads we just received. I've tried automatic and manual settings to no avail. Your IP setting example is confusing because you're using two IP addresses that are not on the same subnet (192.168.1.50 with 192.168.0.100 with 255.255.255.0 subnet when I believe it should be 255.255.254.0).

I'm using MadMapper 5.10 on both Madmapper (Version 5.1.0 (22041918538)) and Minimad (MiniMad SD-card MiniMad Video 5.1.0 (7660))

I see the Minimad in the drop down menu but it doesn't connect.

and I'm getting the following warning:
MadMapper was unable to connect to MiniMad Video
    Minimad_1.
Please make sure the MiniMad is activated and playing,
or else check the MiniMad's network configuration.
It's asking to activate the Minimad but I'm not seeing anything about activation in the manual.

    Any thoughts?

As a follow up to my last post, I'm able to use the MiniMad Controller over the network BUT now I'm getting the following prompt:
Your MiniMad is not yet compatible with remote-export.
Please flash your MiniMad's SD-card using the latest
    image.
the latest image is see on your website is for MiniMad 4 so I flashed one of the SD cards and updated back to 5.1.0 and now it works!

    I don't understand your remark:
Your IP setting example is confusing because you're using two IP addresses that are not on the same subnet (192.168.1.50 with 192.168.0.100 with 255.255.255.0 subnet when I believe it should be 255.255.254.0).
    But I wrote:
For example, if you set the MiniMad to 192.168.0.100 / 255.255.255.0, manually configure your Mac network adapter to 192.168.1.50 / 255.255.255.0.
In my example-configuration, MiniMad & MadMapper are both using the same netmask: 255.255.255.0.

If your MiniMad is not activated, its red LED should blink rapidely.
The best way to check is to connect the MiniMad to a HDMI display and follow the procedure, as stated in the user-guide.
