can anybody help me get my usb midi keyboard to work i have a novation remote 37l

ok.. quoting it crowd.. did you try turning it on and off.. no just kidding..
first of all you could test if its connected properly by apples audio midi setup.. you find this in your utilities folder..or just command+shift+u..
next step could be getting some midi testing software.. like midi monitor

its for free and you see if something is coming out of your device...
when you checked all above go inside m8.. go to mapping.. rescan MIDI devices.. then edit MIDI map....
