Last night tried it on PC, it runs like a charm. I tested with Etherdream and Helios, everything is allright.
On mac 10.13.6 it crashes on exec. MM dont open at all. Any idea?
Yes, there's an issue with a library we're using on 10.13 or earlier. We solved that, I'll pm you a new build. We should make a beta 2 next week I suppose, just waiting for more feedback.

Hi, what portable laser would you recommend or have tested , and be compatible with MM5 ? I was looking at LaserCube by Laseros.com as want to travel with it , but understand it is different protocol ? Sorry , still kinda noob in laser environment . Another thing is DAC. Have noticed that Helios is the way to go..

Yesterday I was able to download the Mac and PC betas. I had to update my osx since I was still in high sierra, now from Big Sur I can't get past the login, I'm sure to write my username and pass correctly, but it indicates an error all the time. In the link to forgotten password open https://beta.madmapper.com/ and from there it does not happen ... I'm in a loop!
is there a problem with the page?
As for MadMapper 5, the new website & licensing system are all in beta, therefore still prone to hiccups.
You should now be able to log back in and try MadMapper 5.

Hello,

I understood that the DAC as Ether Dream and Helios filter the whole data and decrease the laser performance (scanning).

If this is true, I would like to know if using showNET directly from MadLaser is therefore more performance than using ether Dream and Helios DAC ?

Best

Shownet : 12bit precision
Helios : 12bit precision
Etherdream: 16bit precision

End of the day, one can tell the differences in realife only in very specific situations/ content.

Will MadLaser support BeamBrush laser technology?

I´ve had the beta running in Bootcamp Windows, with 1 Etherdream, 1 Helios, and pipe to a bunch of Pangolin Beyond zones.

Clicked like a madman everywhere, tried to click and drag interface stuff that shouldn't be dragged, had 40-ish surfaces and paramenters animated via audio, weather data, MIDI and OSC from Vezér, input from hardware controller, Padmapper vectoring live camera input AND pushing video + a bunch of Artnet fixtures.

Could not make it crash. This will be life changing technology for my use :)

Kind of wish MM would have told us in advance that the MadLaser license was going to be an additional fee. I wouldn't have bought the Etherdream for $199 for experiments only to find out I'd have to spend another $250 to use in in MM.

Helios is cheaper + no psu needed as it is USB powered ...
However, Helios is 12bit precision vs 16bit Etherdream.

I'd still go for Helios tho'
Is there a URL to the Helios product?

Amazing! Anyone got a quick suggestion for a simple laser setup for testing this stuff?

Ether Dream or Helios?

Laser recommendation?

Thanks.
I have ordered a Helios DAC, ILDA cable and a Laserworld CS1000RGB Mk3 laser (about £540 inc MadLaser). I will let you know whether it works.... Currently playing with imported animated GIFs (running man type thing) and displaying them as laser images.
