    ILDA PROTOCOLE MADLASER

by Martin Pouchard » Fri Nov 01, 2024 9:11 pm

Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to order lasers in ILDA protocol (RJ45 connector) with Madlaser and
If so, can I connect the computer to the laser with a simple RJ45 or will I need an interface between the two?

    Thank you for your answers.

    Hi,

i don't know about ILDA via Ethernet. (Afaik ILDA is an analogue signal, while Ethernet cables are made for digital signals of defined network protocols. Ofc you could appropriate an Ethernet cable and "misuse" it for simple analogue signals, but that would not work with your notebooks's port.)

To answer your question, here is a workflow i do use:
    * per Ethernet cable my laptop connects to a Shownet network interface
    * the Shownet interface generates the analogue ILDA signal as output
    * per ILDA cable the Shownet interface is connected to the laser's ILDA input

You can use any laser as long as it has a classic ILDA input.
Laserworlds lasers have the Shownet interface in-built, so your ethernet-cable connects directly to them. No external interface needed.
Similar solutions exists from other manufacturers too, but are more expensive. (Correct me if i'm wrong!)

    Edit:
This is the interface https://www.laserworld.com/de/laser-sof ... editor-set (the softwares you wouldn't need)

ILDA over Ethernet is just analog like standard ILDA but it uses the wires inside a RJ45 cable, requires Cat7 or something. There are some ILDA-RJ45 connectors on the market. It's not networking.
For ILDA, you need a DAC, list of supported DACs is:
    - Etherdream
    - ShowNET
    - Helios (bitlasers): https://bitlasers.com/shop/helios-laser-dac/
    - AVB / Dante (using audio channels)
    - LaserCube
    - any IDN compatible DAC (a good one is coming: Helios OpenIDN, there is also Dexlogic)
+ MadMapper can talk with Pangolin Beyond software running on the same computer for controlling FB3 / FB4 DACs
