Is it stable/ok to run 2 instances of MM simultaneously on the same server?

    1. Instance 1 runs as a Media Server - runs the entire show with only generic rectangle outputs to Spout Out.

    2. Instance 2 runs as a Mapper - has all the mesh warping & projectors of the venue and uses Spout In.

Wondering if anyone else is doing anything similar?

I'm also considering just breaking the system into 2 servers, the media server, and the output-only server using NDI (video over 25GB direct connection)

The issue with running two instances of MadMapper is that only one process can get the MIDI inputs, and since preferences are shared between processes, you can disable MIDI in one instance and activate it in the other. You'll have the same issue with OSC port etc.
But except that that shouldn't be an issue. For sharing the video stream, best is to use Syphon on macOS / Spout on Windows to avoid NDI compression / decompression overhead.

If you go for 2 computers, best is to use a HDMI connection, you can use a HDMI capture device on the second machine. It will avoid compression / decompression overhead of NDI. But that might not be needed with a decent computer / network.
